Shannon Rooney : I see some of the most potent sacrifices being
made when we sacrifice our ignorance and choose to engage the world in
a more wakeful and responsible way. This can demand much of us as
individuals, as partners, as workers - it can be inconvenient, it can
be hard to explain, it can change relationships - but done with
intention and a clear dedication, these sacrifices are powerful and
life enhancing.
Sacrificing time and privacy to work as a priest - that's a
sacrifice for the sake of community, in service to the gods of our
lands, seas and skies. That's something beautiful and terrifying to me.
