Why actively contribute to The Druid Network?

The Druid Network aims of sharing inspiration and information are only made possible by those dedicated members who contribute their time and creativity, each and every one bringing to the web of the Network their own particular blend of skills, interests and connections.

While the Network's ethos is based upon Druidry as a religious tradition, even for those for whom it is a life philosophy, an ancient wisdom, crucial to its practice are the relationships between the individual, their environment and their ancestors. Each priest and practitioner relates to the landscape in a their own way, each working for a different community of humans, animals, trees, butterflies and wind sprites ... Every relationship is unique. The individual accesses different sources of wisdom, knowing and experience combining in moments of wakeful living, and as a result each person has unique gifts to share.

The Druid Network offers its cauldron for members of the Druid community to pour in their individual gifts. Honouring their diversity, we welcome with open arms all those who are willing to add to the sacred brew, a brew into which others will dip their cup, in search in inspiration and information that will nourish and nurture their own unique paths.

Co-ordinators and Contributors:

There are two main ways of contributing, either as a Project Co-ordinator or as a Contributor.

Co-ordinators tend to be project managers and work with some autonomy, albeit within the tenets of the Network. Contributors are those who contribute their time, skills and creativity in any way other than as a Co-ordinator, they may be assisting with a project, providing articles – the opportunities are as wide as the Network as varied as its membership.

For more information, see Structure of the Network.

What are the Terms and Conditions for those wishing to actively contribute to TDN?

Payment

Currently all who contribute their time and skills do so on a voluntary basis. That goes for those folk who are working 30+ hours a week for TDN as well as those who manage 2-3 hours a fortnight. Should that ever change, it will be made widely known.

APPRECIATION

We recognise that nobody working hard on a voluntary basis can ever be thanked enough for the work they do. It is essential that contribute their time and energy in a way that nourishes them. In other words, we must work for the inspiration, connections, satisfaction, magic and benefit that the work itself gives. Needless to say the Network does its utmost to ensure that all are appreciated and supported as much as possible.

HONOUR

In line with its aim of being a holistically Pagan Druid organisation, TDN works on the basis of honourable relationships. Honour expressed through truthful, regular and clear communications, and with mutual respect, are fundamental requirements of all members. We encourage an environment of openness and sharing, without assumptions, hints and unspoken agendas. If there is any sense that this honour has been compromised, the relevant issues will be raised until clarity re-emerges.

RESPECT

All members who actively contribute are required to use their role with responsibility and respect for the wider international Druid and Pagan communities, other spiritual faith communities and individuals.

MEMBERSHIP

The Druid Network, working on pagan principles, does not acknowledge a hierarchical structure. We are all simply members; and whether our contribution is being a member of the community or whether we contribute and additional 30 hours a week, we all pay the annual subscription and all are equally valued. Some may hold positions of responsibility but that does not imply authority.

AUTONOMY

While Co-ordinators are responsible for their own project areas, and have freedom to explore and develop ideas, all projects must be in keeping with the key tenets of TDN. Also, in keeping with honourable relationship (see above), it is expected that all involved with a project keep each other informed of developments, consulting the Trustees when it comes to major decisions, notably those which will change the feel of the project area, or involve possible financial or legal issues.

SUPPORT

All who actively contribute to the Network have the option of being a member Care Team, facilitated by a Trustee, who is there to hear any problems, to support and talk when the role becomes difficult for any reason. In this way, the community holds a premise of care.

TACOS

What could this mean?! This is an acronym for five essentials that we promote within the active team. Thanking people for support; Asking for help where needed; Congratulating people on achievements; Offering help to others; and saying Sorry whenever necessary.

CLOSURE

In harmony with Pagan Druidry, there is also sought and affirmed clarity with regard to endings. Where any member working on a project wishes to withdraw, this will be actively supported with honesty and honour. However, wherever possible, it is requested that   responsibility is maintained until a member is found to take over the project, or the project is brought to a graceful conclusion.

Sharing Your Unique Talents

Most people who become co-ordinators of TDN have not applied for a job advertised but have sent a proposal to the office with an idea of what they'd like to contribute to TDN. If, having carefully explored the TDN website and made any necessary enquiries, you have an idea about an area you'd like to create, develop or contribute to, please let us know.

Vacancies

From time to time the Network actively seeks members who would be interested in taking on a particular task or project. The current vacancies are listed here
