A series of five weekends
with Emma Restall Orr (bobcat)
Spread over the cycle of a year, Living Druidry is a
course designed to inspire an understanding of modern Druidry as a way
of living with honour, with ecstasy, responsibility, wisdom and joy.
A spiritual / religious tradition, with roots that stretch deep into
the midsts of time, Druidry also evolves with each new dawn, ever finding
poignancy and relevance to the present moment. Teaching us a way of living
in a sacred manner, we learn how to honour the environment, the powers
of nature, the flow of life's energies, the cycles of sun and moon, the
tides of ocean and emotion, becoming a more valuable part of nature's creativity. The core of the
tradition is sacred relationship; its journey is the quest for inspiration,
and how that can flow into perfect creativity.
The aim of the course is to find a depth of awareness
and knowing that allows each individual to access their own unique vision
and practice of Druidry. The work includes developing useful awareness
of spirit and energy; creating and using sacred space; building sacred
relationship with elementals, spirits of place, ancestors and deity; breaking
blocks, accessing inspiration, expressing true creativity; creating effective
ritual for ourselves and others.
It looks at the craft of the Bard, the mysterious power
of listening, finding stories and poetry of our ancestors and our own
soul; it explores the craft of the Ovate, the many levels of vision, understanding
healing, empathy and natural lore. It introduces simple Druid level and
priesthood practices, allowing each to find their natural strengths and
interests. There is ritual, meditation, music and questing throughout.
It isn't a breeze. The course requires commitment and
regular practice in between workshops in order to build a strong foundation,
one that is both effective and integrated, based on sacred relationship,
honour and reverence. It is accessible for the beginner and also proves
a guiding framework for those who know more. It is worth checking the course reviews before considering applying.
The Venue : Holycombe is a beautiful house in gently wild countryside
in south Warwickshire. It offers a spacious wooden hall with an open hearth,
outside meditation circles, a fire circle, turf labyrinth, pond and stream, and its own
stone circle built upon historic moated sacred land.
Within a few minutes walk, over open meadows, is old
greenwood forest. The tranquility and magic are tangible, the earth energy
palpable. The neolithic circle of the Rollright Stones is just 3 miles
to the south.
Availability of places : With only 17 places on each course, places go quickly. The
courses are usually booked up between 6 and 18 months in advance. If you are interested in applying for a place please get in touch, emailing your name and contact
details.
The Dates and Times : Each weekend begins at 10 am on the Saturday morning, with
a full day of interactive workshop sessions, continuing into the evening with
ritual and questing. Sundays are a time of supervized individual journeying
and integration, the day ending after the afternoon session at around 4 pm. Many arrive on the Friday evening to settle in and share time with the spirits of place and other participants.
The Cost : Cost for the course
is on a sliding scale, according to household income, from £500
- £800 with concessions where available.
This is an integral and intense 9 month course, flowing from
beginning to end. The cost includes weekend tuition and guidance, together
with a strong level of support in between the workshops.
The cost includes accommodation on Saturday night (for the
lower fee) and Friday and Saturday nights for the higher fees.
Each participant is asked to bring food to share. There is a small kitchen available with simple amenities.
Places can be secured with a deposit of £100, refundable
only if someone else takes your place. The balance is due at the beginning
of the first weekend, or can be paid in installments by prior arrangement. If you begin the course, you are liable for the whole course fee, even if you don't attend all the weekends.
Numbers are limited to ensure that every person attending
has focussed time and support. Over time, a small group better builds the
bonds of trust needed to create a safe supported space for deep inner work
and change.
