InterFaith - a Druid Perspective

Interfaith - shall we fight or talk?

(what would a druid do?)

A Druid flag hangs outside Loughborough town hallThe history of religion has always been tied intimately with the history of conflict. Perhaps it is of little surprise that fiercely (word deliberately used) held beliefs produce barriers, fences within which we corral our principals and outside of which we see 'the other'. And the other, the strange, the unknown, have always by some been feared - and through fear, attacked.

Interfaith works to build connections between people and organisations of different faiths and traditions, to find common ground and to recognise the value of our similarities rather than focusing upon our differences. It is not an attempt to construct a composite and compromising religion, or influence one path with the aspects of another. It is a sharing, not a blending.

One could argue that Druidry itself is a river fed of many streams; there being so many interpretations of what a modern Druid is, should be or could be. In The Druid Network we hold a vessel of understandings, where our intention is to interact with others who choose the name Druid as important to their path or religion, to themselves. It is in the spirit of extending such understanding that we seek to be involved in the wider Interfaith world.

This ever developing section of the web site contains such intentions. Religious faith has been the cause of many wars. These pages express our desire for dialogue, understanding and tolerance in both and all directions.
May the gods that be, agree.

The picture to the right of these words shows the (or at least 'a') Druid flag being flown at Charnborough Borough Council offices where Mark Graham is the chair of the Loughborough Council of Faiths.

Hopefully unnecessary disclaimer: The views put forward within these pages are voices of individuals within the Druid community and those who touch it. They do not represent the entirety of Druidry, nor do they necessarily represent the views of The Druid Network or its members. There exists a wide spectrum of opinions within Druidry and, while some views expressed may be rich sources of inspiration, there may also be views that cause offence to others. We offer these articles as a representation of the awen of a range of individuals, studying, teaching and practising Druidry. If you wish to represent your own awen you are invited to contribute to these pages.
