Self Description
The "Gaelic Druid Order", is focused along traditional lines by Founders and Joint-Chiefs, Ruiseart and Ceit Alcorn and membership is via initiation. The G.D.O. currently has two groves; the Mother Grove ("Sgiath an Fhithich" - from where the Joint-Chiefs run the Order) is based in the lovely little village of Newtonmore, situated in the picturesque Cairngorms National Park in the heart of the Scottish Highlands and our Daughter Grove ("The Ashby Grove") is in Western Australia. Our aim is to help develop the spiritual potential of the individual whilst working with the energies of Nature, via the traditional groves of Bard (poet, story-teller), Ovate (seer, prophet) and Druid (philosopher, priest, magician). In addition, the G.D.O. is totally committed to the preservation and development of Gaelic language and culture and this forms an integral part of Bardic studies. Having said that, people of all backgrounds are welcome. Those of Gaelic descent can find a connection to their heritage, whilst "non" Gaels can use the Order as a platform from which they can hopefully discover their own roots.
