Beith

Birch Bark

Birch as Ally

Beith is not as delicate as she seems, with her pale bark and delicate drooping twigs, her fluttering leaves and tiny seeds. She is surreptious, sneaking in where she can, singing her quiet song while quietly claiming ground. Birch helps us with the lessons of beginnings, the cleansing and clearing that is needed beforehand, and the gentle decisiveness that guides those first steps. (ERO)

Birch Catkins

Growing on newly disturbed land and on the edges of more dense woodland, Birch is often the first tree to colonize suitable space.

With her familiar white peeling bark she reflects moonlight readily and is often seen as an indication of change, of doing what needs to be done, of beginnings and the cycles of nature. Her arms can be stretching out to embrace the new, accepting that change, and her twigs and branches are often used to clear out the old, assisting in the birthing of the new. (CC)
