For two decades we have led tours of ancient and sacred sites in England,
Scotland & Ireland.
Gothic Image Tours has been operating for over twenty years as a wing
of Gothic Image bookstore and publishing
house based in Glastonbury, England.
The tours sprung from a call to offer small groups of pilgrims a way
to explore and discover the spirit of the land by visiting the ancient
sacred places of Britain and Ireland.
It all started in the late 1970s when Jamie George began his guided journeys
around Glastonbury, which then grew to include Scotland, Ireland and Wales.
Since Gothic Image then began to publish well known authors such as John
Michell, Geoffrey Ashe and John Matthews, it was a natural development
to invite them along to accompany these sacred journeys. Thus began Gothic
Image Tours.
In 1982 Jamie met Marion Zimmer Bradley, author of The Mists of Avalon.
Jamie was able to help with her research for the book and then she too
joined the tours.
As a pioneer in providing these kinds of journeys, Gothic Image provides
a relaxed, informal, informative but well organised way of travelling
with kindred spirits to these ancient places, with the benefit of the
knowledge and warm companionship of respected teachers and scholars.

Jamie George
Born and raised in Scotland, Jamie George is a co-director, with his
partner Frances Howard-Gordon, of Gothic Image bookstore and publishing
house in Glastonbury. He is the tour leader on all Gothic Image tours.
Jamie has organised tours for such groups as the American Society of
Dowsers in Vermont, the Omega Institute and the Fellowship of the Spirit
in New York, USA.
He is a member of the British Druid Order and of the Knights Templars.
He played a major part in the inspiration for the late Marion Zimmer
Bradley to write her best selling novel The Mists of Avalon which is set
in Glastonbury.
He has appeared on many television programmes - including, most recently,
The Quest For the Holy Grail - Pioneer productions.

A journey through the myths of time

This journey is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to enter the enchanted
realms of Arthur, Merlin and Morgan le Fey.
We visit Glastonbury, Tintagel, and the great stone circles of Avebury
and Stonehenge in south-west England.
This is a special chance to experience the history, mystery and magic
of the landscape and legends of ancient southern Britain, with a special
accent on Arthurian times.

Scotland is a land of heart-stopping beauty.
On this journey we sail to the Blessed Isles (the Hebrides and the Orkneys)
where lie some of the most evocative ancient sacred sites in Europe.
We stay on the magical Isle of Iona - a gorgeous jewel set in an aquamarine
sea. We explore and discover the ancient and modern day culture of the
windswept islands of Orkney, Lewis and Skye. We are spellbound by the
arcane Templar art and architecture of Roslin Chapel and refreshed and
renewed by the enchanted fairy realms at the Fairy Glen of Rosemarkie.
Along the way we taste the peculiar local cuisine - the celebrated haggis,and
we are entertained by local pipers, poets, singers and raconteurs. Altogether
a fun time for all.

Ireland is a timeless land with great and wonderful treasures of antiquity
enshrined by folklore, myth and legend.
Situated as it is on the Atlantic seaboard of Europe, there is a quality
of light and air here that is unsurpassable. Here are to be found the
gentle or fairy places that have been the inspiration of mystical poets
for centuries.
Here also are sites of fertility and power such as the beautiful Lough
Gur, the spectacular Newgrange chambered mound that receives the sun's
rays at winter, and the Hill of Tara, a place of royal marriage with the
earth.
On this journey we shall not only explore and discover the rich heritage
of Ireland's past, but also its modern day culture, its friendly people
and their way of life.

Mysterious Wales
Land of Merlin

The beautiful country of Wales is steeped in folklore ,myth and legend,
hidden away in its green valleys and up on the hills.
Here is to be found the resting place of that most redoubtable of wizards,
Merlin the Mage. Here also are many sites associated with the adventures
of King Arthur and ancient heroes of the Mabinogion and other legends.
Amongst the lush green rolling hills of Wales are spectacular natural
places such as Dinas Emrys and Dinas Brân, megalithic sites such
as Bryn Celli Ddu and Petre Ifân, fairy sites such as at Betws-y-coed
and Trellech and Celtic shrines such as those at Penmon and St David's.
We shall travel through some of the most stunning scenery in the British
Isles and tune in to native Welsh spirit, the spirit of the Celtic peoples.
