KEY LINKS

Groups with which The Druid Network has close associations:

The Druid Camp

The Druid Camp is an annual event, held in mid July in the Forest of Dean. Possibly the biggest gathering of the Druid community each year, it welcomes anyone walking the paths of the Druid tradition and any curious and respectful of that tradition. Founded by Emma Restall Orr of The Druid Network and Mark Graham of The Charnwood Grove, it is now run by members of the Druid community, facilitated by Mark and the Rainbow 2000 team.

Honouring the Ancient Dead (HAD)

HAD is a Pagan organization set up to interact between the world of archaeology / museums / the government, and the Pagan community as a whole. Its main premise is to inform and encourage these secular bodies to handle with respect human remains and associated/sacred artefacts that are either clearly Pagan or originate from pre-sixth century Britain, and to educate these bodies about Pagan spiritual sensitivities.

HAD has links with PEBBLE, dealing with this side of PEBBLE's interaction with the British government. It is run by a council of theological advisors which encompass the broad stretch of modern British Paganisms, with backing from a group of academic and field advisors. Local teams are set up for particular projects.

Contact : Emma Restall Orr - Email :office@honour.org.uk

Public Body Liaison Committee for British Paganism (PEBBLE)

PEBBLE is the "Public Body Liaison Committee for British Paganism", set up by a number of Pagan organisations following a report by the Home Office's Faith Communities Unit, in which guidelines were set out for all government departments to include minority faith groups in consultations regarding laws and guidance that affects them.

PEBBLE is not so much an organization itself, but a network that provides guidance for individuals within Paganism who are seeking to engage with government and other official bodies, such as hospitals, schools, prisons, museums and so on. It also aims to provide lines of communication for those in government to talk to the Pagan community, through Pagan bodies affiliated to PEBBLE, such as PIPS (Pagans in Public Service) and HAD (Honouring the Ancient Dead).

The PEBBLE committee is presently made up of representatives from a number of groups, including the Pagan Federation and the Council of British Druid Orders. A website is in construction that will list affiliated groups and explain the process that others can take in order to get more involved.

From this they enable (or sometimes undertake on behalf of) en-wholing (healing) other beings, creatures, people, plants, the land itself. DISCUSSION FORUMS

For The Druid Network Forums, please log on in the members area.

Asatru-U Discuss Asatru (Germanic Heathen) courses and introductory material

This group will discuss development and implementation of Asatru (Germanic Heathen) courses for different kinds of students; for different levels of rigor and abstraction; and for directed and independent study. The group will also develop introductory materials that can be distributed offline. This discussion group operates loosely under the umbrella of the Reeves Hall of the Frigga's Web Association and will adhere to the FWA policies on civil conduct (available at http://www.friggasweb.org). Unless otherwise noted, the contents of an individual message is the property of the person who wrote it. The compiled archives of the list and any course material developed by the list may be used only with the permission of the list owner or the Reeves Hall of the Frigga's Web Association.

Kindred-UK

We hopefully will grow to encompass many individuals, hearths, groups and kindreds, all working together yet keeping their own individuality. We are not here to tell you how to blot, or any other aspect of Heathen belief. To share knowledge, experience, friendship, to learn and grow as a larger community.

Pagan and Christian Moot

This website and accompanying message board has its origins in a desire to provide a forum where Pagans and Christians can learn about each others beliefs, burst a few myth bubbles and gain a greater understanding of why people believe and act on those beliefs as they do. Unlike the excellent Christian based websites that fulfil a similar role, the underlying purpose of this board is not to promote any specific faith path over another. The role is not to seek similarities in the beliefs to the exclusion of differences (although similarities do exist). The purpose is to provide an honest and non judgemental area on the worldwide web where people can begin to break down the barriers to communication between two faith groups.

Pagan Paths UK

This site welcomes pagans from any walk of life regardless of which path you follow, whether that be Wicca, Traditional Witchcraft, Druidry, Heathen, Asatru etc. Pagan Paths started out in early 2003 as an online web community but has undergone many changes to make it the successful site with hundreds of members that it is today.

Inside there are many forums for you to participate in the friendly discussions. We hope this site to be one where you will feel the comfort and the freedom to express your religious views, where you will be met with a warm tolerant atmosphere.

DRUID COMMUNITY

The British Druid Order (BDO)

The British Druid Order teaches and practices a creative, celebratory, elemental, shamanic Druidry, drawing inspiration from the past, yet deeply relevant to the needs of the present: caring for the earth, empowering the spirit, promoting peace and understanding. Inspired by the rich heritage of the British Isles, we see Druidry as a path without boundaries, open to all.

The Council of British Druid Orders (CoBDO)

CoBDO is a coalition of druid orders and a handful of other groups, initially brought together to discuss the issue of free access to Stonehenge for Druid ritual.

Bond of Druids

A Druid Journal is intended to be a publication where individuals on the Druid path, in all its varied forms, can share a wide array of interests, experiences, expertise and knowledge with the larger communities of Druids. We hope that the electronic and paper format options will provide a medium that allows us to ponder, reflect, and then continue to talk with each other.

The visible elements presented here are celebrating the diversity of its many Druidic Paths.

It’s also publishes the magazine Aontacht.

Druidschool

Druidschool will show you how to hold the higher awareness of the true Celtic Druid through our Homestudy Online Course and our Workshops. We offer two aspects of the training to be a Celtic Druid - Ritual Ceremony and Psychic Development. We also share ways on how to find the third aspect - Sacred Knowledge.

eDruid Press

The paperless publishing model is fully web based and environmentally friendly. The Library features well-researched, high quality books and articles dealing with Celtic and Druid Studies, the Ogham alphabet, herbal medicine and herb lore, and other topics of interest to pagans. The eDruid Press Online Library uses a browser based Web Book Reader, which features a sophisticated search function that allows the reader to find any word or phrase within the text. Results are organized on a separate page with the search term highlighted and shown in context and a hyperlink to the associated page. Once you've used the search feature, you'll never want to go back to old-fashioned paper books. Submissions from established and aspiring authors are welcomed.

RITES OF PASSAGE

Sun Rising Natural Burial Ground

When the time comes to find an appropriate final resting place for those we have loved, we seek a place where we can reflect and remember, undisturbed. We seek a place where that peace is assured and protected. We want to feel that our loved ones would approve of the choices we make.

At Nature Reserve Burial Grounds, we are dedicated to creating such places of true peace.

Transitions - creating Pagan funerals

A group of Pagans, mostly druids, whose aim is to provide people with the resources to create meaningful and beautiful rites of passage, particularly funerals, that offer support during the process of dying, reflect the spirituality of the person who has died, and offer support to the bereaved.

The Natural Death Centre

The Natural Death Centre is a social entrepreneurial, educational charity that gives advice on all aspects of dying, bereavement and consumer rights in this area.

We give support on family-organised and environmentally-friendly funerals and run the Association Natural Burial Grounds. Although green, we promote choice and education not just environmental issues.

The Eternal Forest Trust

The Eternal Forest Trust offers a variety of services in the wood, ranging from burials to nest boxes celebrating special people or events. We bury people, pets, and ashes on plots you can choose, and detailed mapping ensures that the plot will remain dedicated to those you love for ever. We can plant a tree for you or with you, along with ferns, bluebells and local wildflowers. If you want to select a woodland glade for yourself or your family and pets, we will meet you in the wood and guide you to the spaces available.

Sacred Texts

This is a quiet place in cyberspace devoted to religious tolerance and scholarship. Of particular interest to the Druid community will be the "Four Ancient Books of Wales" :
"This is William Skene's anthology of dark-age Welsh Bardic poetry. Often cited, but difficult to obtain, this book contains every remaining piece of Bardic poetry known. The poems are translated from four manuscripts: the Black Book of Caermarthen, the Red Book of Hergest (which is also the source of the Mabinogion), the Book of Taliessin and the Book of Aneurin, all of which date from the twelfth to the fifteenth centuries C.E. The poems themselves date from much earlier, probably from the sixth century by internal evidence."

It has been operating since 004 and plays dozens of Druid sound artists from all over the world and from all branches of Druidry and Paganism. It is availible for free to anyone with internet access, and is best listened to using Winamp or Real Player. For some reason, it won't work with Windows Media Player. Currently there is a 13 hour loop, and songs and other audio files are constantly being added. There is no set program schedule or "on demand" play, but rather think of it as a surprise bag every time you open it!
