Brithdir Mawr An Eco-Village in West Wales

by Trish Fraser.

Brithdir Mawr is a former farm of 165 acres in Pembrokeshire,West Wales, UK, that is home to several projects of a sustainable nature. (Brithdir Mawr means, in Welsh, Great Speckled Land.)

These people are almost completely self-sufficient. Farming and gardening is done organically. There is a wind generator, water turbine, solar panels and they are not on the grid for water and electricity.

If you are interested in any of this really good stuff, there are some courses available in 2004. Keep checking their web site.

Visitors and volunteers are welcome, and are encouraged to be involved as much as possible.

There’s basketry, circle dancing, story telling, and so very much more.

The most beautiful building is one they have built them selves. This is an eco-structure using local materials. It has a low impact on the environment and is simply lovely to look at.

Go to their web site and see how these wonderful people have created a sustainable and beautiful place to live.

Their love for the land shines through in their words and pictures.

The seasons are celebrated with simple ceremonies on all eight festivals of the wheels journey.
