Tree Planting at Sentry Circle - March 2006
Sentry Circle is located near Northallerton in North Yorkshire. The owner of the farm, Derek Plews, has a vision of creating a sacred space and a sense of community for all who come in friendship and peace. The aim is to form a community of people who care deeply for the environment and who would like to become involved in creating a sacred place for this and future generations. Some of the projects that are in the pipeline are a turf labyrinth, a sweat lodge, communal roundhouse and a sculpture park. However, two major projects are the creation of a stone circle and surrounding woodland.
Around 25 people attended a weekend camp at Sentry Circle Farm to plant trees and raise a stone in the stone circle; each stone in the circle is being dedicated to a different tree in the Celtic Tree Calendar. With the aid of funding provided by The Druid Network 100 trees of local provenance were planted, the species including; Oak, Alder, Birch, Rowan and Wild Cherry. This is the beginning of a series of planned tree plantings that will be carried out over the next few years.
Everyone really enjoyed themselves and expressed how rewarding they found working together and with the land to produce a new woodland. In fifty years time there will be some lovely mature sacred groves at Sentry Circle for future generations to enjoy.

This is confirmation and guarantee that the site (whole farm) is available for members of The Druid Network, in fact all Druids and Pagans, to use for Rituals, camps or just a meeting place in our meeting/camping barn. The only permissions needed would be to contact me first to make arrangements.
