Household Gas Providers
Many people know that gas companies generally charge a much higher unit rate to pre-payment meter households. These households are more likely to be low-income families. The discounts given to poorer households are actually exceeded by the extra profit generated by the higher rates. Most people think this is unfair.
You might not also have realised that if (like most people), you pay your gas company a standing charge, then the less you use, the more you pay proportionally. This is not just unfair, it doesn't encourage ethical behaviour.
I don't pretend to understand exactly what Ebico's system Equigas does, only that they have serious accountants. They play the market, direct debit discounts and a bunch of other stuff to give one rate to all - regardless of whether you have a pre-payment meter or not, and with no standing charge. Their gas tariff is fairer, greener and usually cheaper for everyone. This they say they do because they believe in Christian 'gospel' values about fairness and being custodians of the planet. They give me a warm and fuzzy, interfaith feeling, and keep my house warm too.
