Ceilede

Sun 07 Mar
LAND - SONG - BEING - SACRED CHANTS WITH FIONNTULACH AND PETER GOVAN
Quaker Meeting House, 7 Victoria Terrace, Edinburgh

A shared concert with Fionntulach, singing the Fuinn - the sacred chants of the Ceile Dé - and Pete Govan perfornming Sacred World Chants and Tuvan Two-Tone Throat Singing.

During this evening event, Fionntulach will sometimes sing solo and will at other times invite the audience to participate in some of the chanting, which can vary in style from a simple and serene plainchant style to ecstatic and wildly improvisational. Peter will combine two-tone harmonic overtone singing from Tuva, while singing his own original, gentle and expansive melodies of wordless depth and emotive purity.

Ceilede

Mon 08 Mar
CéILE Dé - THE SPOUSES OF GOD
Quaker Meeting House, 7 Victoria Terrace, Edinburgh

In Céile Dé spirituality, we say every rock, every hill, every loch glows with the Christ-light as much as the face of any Saint. Here, the edge of early Celtic Christianity dovetails into its Foster-Mother; Druidism … its history blurs into myth … its Saints shape-shift into Gods and Goddesses … its Heaven pours into Earth.

This earliest manifestation of Celtic Christianity, also greatly inspired in its early development by contemporary wisdoms of the Middle East, takes us through Nature and the Celtic “Otherworld,” beyond what our imagination will ever conceive, into the realms of the Unknowable One, who wants to break our hearts, so that we might find the Beloved there - and dissolve into the No-thingness beyond all things at last.

This introductory workshop will explore some of the philosophy of the tradition and its application in "real life." There will also be some experiential work, such as sacred chants in Gaelic and other spiritual exercises.

Ceilede

Fri 12 Mar - Sun 14 Mar
'UNITING HEAVEN AND EARTH' - BRINGING THE TRADITION BACK ACROSS THE WATER TO IRELAND
Dunderry Park, Navan, Co Meath

This earliest surviving, unbroken manifestation of esoteric Celtic Christian Spirituality is rooted in a Native reverence for The Mother - Earth, as She ever-births The Incarnation - our Realised Selves, from the virgin womb of our surrendered hearts. This inner journey takes us through Nature and the Divinities of the Celtic Otherworld, beyond the illusory, beyond what our imagination will ever conceive, into the realms of the Unknowable One; Rúnda - the Sum of the Many, who wants to break and re-make our hearts, so that we might find and know the Beloved there; dissolving at last into the No-thingness Beyond All, realising that Heaven is here, now, and nowhere else. This introductory gathering will explore some of the philosophy of the tradition and its application in real life. There will also be experiential work:

  • Learn some of céile dé’s spiritual practices
  • Explore some of the mythology and philosophy of the tradition.
  • Learn ancient gaelic sacred chants.
  • And other spiritual practices, that work with and honour the beautiful world in which we live.

ONGOING COMMUNITY: Newcomers will have the opportunity to consider further, ongoing teachings and practices within a newly formed group that will offer a powerful container for those who seek a path that invites commitment and openness to real inner change. If such a group forms, it will open up the possibility of regular ongoing teachings in Ireland. We will take time towards the end of our gathering to explore this possibility with any interested participants.

RECOGNISING SIGNS OF SPRING
Springfield Sanctuary, Wynyards Farm, Upper Slaughter, Cheltenham, Glos, GL 54 2JR

The March workshop will be taking a tour of the Sanctuary to see what herbs are already showing, noticing the different leaves and colours, tasting what’s available, making nettle tea and bramble root vinegar. It’s liable to be very cold, so people need to come warmly and se nsibly dressed! They will also need to bring cider vinegar and empty 1lb glass jars with them to make their infused vinegar in. We might harvest some bark or make a leaf bud flower essence as well, depending on what’s available.
