Sun 13 Mar
WAY OF AWEN SPRING PLAYSHOP
Minerva Centre, Bath

11am-4pm

Using storytelling, poetry, role-play, painting, movement, sound, journeying and discussion, we'll look at aspects of the Taliesin legend - focusing on the final key stages of the story, when Gwion becomes the Twice-born bard. A chance to share research into Celtic mysteries; any stories, songs or poems; connect with the Awen; and have a bardic initiation! Take your bardic vow and embark upon your bardic journey in earnest with the support of a friendly, skilled and knowledgeable peer group. Make 2011 the Year of the Awen!

Bring pen, notebook & something 'special' to wear for ceremony - blue, ideally. Refreshments available (for donations to the centre) but feel free to bring packed lunch. See The Way of Awen, published by O Books.

£30 for the day. Contact: 01453 765660 or email kevan [at] wayofawen [dot] com

Sat 19 Mar
SILVER APPLES OF THE MOON, GOLDEN APPLES OF THE SUN
Hawkwood College, nr Stroud

7-10pm

An enchanting evening of storytelling, poetry, & Spring magic with Kevan Manwaring & you!

£10/8 conc. on the door

'I went for a walk in a hazel wood, because a fire was in my head...' So wrote WB Yeats. On the evening of the Spring Equinox full moon - a time of balance between night and day, and the highest tide of the year, we'll use the ancient arts of story and poetry to celebrate the turning of the wheel. The evening will begin with a bardic performance by Kevan, former Bard of Bath; next, he'll take you through a 'playshop' in bardic inspiration and performance; before the grand finale - a co-created story-ceremony inspired by this special time, and a chance to share any seasonal musings/ prayers/intentions. Together, we’ll kindle the ‘fire in the head’, and on a wave of Spring energy, stand up and shine!

No experience necessary.

Bring pen, notebook, something 'special' to wear for the story-ceremony, & any images or objects that sum up the season for you.

Hawkwood College, Painswick Old Road, Stroud GL6 7QW

Sun 20 Mar
TUATHA DE BRIDGET - IMBOLC
Pollok Country Park, Pollokshields Road, Glasgow

We meet in the Burrell Museum Car Park in Pollok Country Park, Pollokshields Road, Glasgow at 13.00 hrs on all festivals except on MidWinter/Eponalia which is one hour earlier at 12.00hrs (to allow folks to get home afterwards in daylight if possible).

We walk through the North Woods, past the pond and then go ‘off road’ through the woods to the ancient earthworks site where we hold our ceremonies. Once the ceremony is over, we wander back through the woods and normally go into the café inside the Burrell Museum for a hot coffee/tea/chocolate and many have something to eat also. We are children and dog friendly provided both are kept under control and any dogs are kept on a lead during the ceremony. For those with a reduced mobility, there is a shorter walk to the ancient earthworks site or it is permissible to use disability scooters inside the park.

*Warning, the site is not near any toilets, the nearest are at the Burrell Museum, the nearest car park is also here.

On the plus side, there is a very nice shop inside the Burrell where you can buy a range of things from the silly wiggly worms to very beautiful artwork.
