This is one of the most irritating sources of waste: companies send you catalogues
and magazines wrapped in plastic, some of which we have subscribed to but
many of which we have never asked for and don't want. We tear off this plastic
wrapper and throw it away ...
Most of these plastic sleeves are made of polythene. You
can tell because it's soft and stretchy, not crinkly or stiff.
This polythene can be recycled.
If your local authority recycling centre won't accept it
(as yet, sadly few do), try one of the companies that make and supply the
polythene. It is important that your polythene is clean, has no sticky or
dirty residue, no selotape or labels; if it does, the whole batch will be
rejected.
Put it in a properly sealed, addressed and sufficiently stamped
envelope.
