Public Rituals in Events

Finding public druid rituals within the Events pages can be something of a lottery so this page is intended to be a help in doing that.

Most public rituals are associated with one of the eight festivals throughout the year. The dates of the Solstices and Equinoxes vary according to the positions of the earth relative to the sun so can only be given approximately. In any case, public ritual dates tend to avoid the actual day or the nearest weekend because that is when private Grove meetings are generally held. As a consequence the public events can be up to a fortnight either side of the festival date. As a guide, however, to tracking down public rites within the monthly Events listings the generally recognised festival dates are as follows:

  • Samhain (Hallowe'en, All Hallows Eve, Nos Galan Gaeaf) 31 Oct
  • Winter Solstice (Yule, Alban Arthan) around 21 Dec
  • Imbolc (Candlemas, Feast of Brigit, Gŵyl Forwyn, Gŵyl Ffraid) 1/2 Feb
  • Spring Equinox (Oestara, Alban Eiler) around 21 Mar
  • Beltaine (May Day, Calan Mai) 1 May
  • Summer Solstice (Midsummer, Alban Hefin) around 21 Jun
  • Lugnasadh (Lammas, Calan Awst, Gŵyl Awst) 1 Aug
  • Autumn Equinox (Alban Elfed) around 21 Sep

In addition we list groups that organise Public Rituals within Networking Groups. Further details can be obtained by contacting the groups directly.

To submit Public Rituals for listing in the Events pages or for general information contact Events Pages Co-ordinator.
