ADF’s Study Programs
Due to restructuring of ADF’s Study Programs that
took place early in 2003, ADF now has several components of its training
programs, consisting of the following four categories of study:
I. The Dedicant Program is a foundational
spiritual and intellectual first step in making “Our Own Druidry”
one’s personal path. Completion of the Dedicant Program is a prerequisite
for entrance into any of the other ADF's Study Programs. At this point,
the Dedicant Program is scheduled for overhaul and it is expected that
a revised version of the DP will be available at around Samhain of 2003.
II. The ADF Generalist Study Program
includes more advanced studies in the basic aspects of ADF. Courses included
are Indo-European Studies 1, Critical Thinking, Research & Composition,
Liturgy 1, History of Neopaganism and Druidry, Indo- European Language
1, Indo-European Mythology 1, Nature Awareness, General Bardic Studies
1, Divination 1, and Magic 1. These courses are considered to teach core
skills and knowledge to all individuals pursuing a druidic path, and everyone
is encouraged to pursue all or most of these areas of study. A strong
foundation in these general studies should help deepen one’s understanding
of ADF Druidry, past, present and future. The Generalist Study Program
was completed, posted, and began accepting students on July 20, 2003.
III. Guild training programs are designed
by official guilds of ADF under the supervision of the ADF Preceptor and
the Council of Lore, with rank advancements being identified as circles.
Currently there are three guilds -- Artisans, Scholars and Warriors Guilds
-- with approved study programs accepting students, all of which became
effective the summer of 2003.
IV. The Clergy Training Program is to
be designed and administered by the Clergy Council of ADF, with the goal
of producing fully trained ordainable ADF Clergy. At this time, the Clergy
Council Preceptor is working diligently on designing the courses for the
Clergy Training Program.
Please direct any questions, suggestions, comments, or
interest in volunteering to help create and/or administer ADF’s
Study Programs to the ADF Preceptor at ADFPreceptor [at] adf [dot] org.
