The SCS has a number of programmes that enable people to learn and explore
shamanism, Celtic history and wisdom, and themselves. It teaches Celtic
Shamanism based on the Faery Faith (animism) of the Celtic peoples of
Western Europe. That is, the belief that everything in this and otherworlds
is alive and has its own soul or spirit. There is no doctrine or dogma,
but there is a code of ethics (to see the SCS code of ethics visit
http://faeryshaman.org/code.htm).
It is a very individualistic path, a mystical path about becoming one
with all that is and entering into union with the divine.
The Oak Grove is the study group you first enter on the SCS Path. This
is a study group that allows you to determine if this path is the one
for you. There are two aspects to the Oak Grove: (a) monthly lessons
on Celtic traditions, wisdom, etc (b) a private e-list where you get
to meet others on this path, and work through and share your lessons.
If you wish you may progress from the Oak Grove to the Apprenticeship
Programme. Oak Grove membership costs $36/yr (about £20) and you
can join at any time. Trial membership is available for 1 month for a
$1 donation.
At the core of the SCS is the 26 month Faery Shaman's Apprenticeship
Programme. The first year of the programme is designed to give the tools
needed to enter the Inworlds at will and return with full memory of all
that took place there. During the course of study you will meet your
animal and ancestor guides, teachers and protectors. You will learn to
travel in the various realms of Faerie and begin to work with the elementals,
the Green Folk, and Nature Spirits. In the second year you explore the
8 festivals and the Circle of Life, while learning to work in closer
harmony with the elemental energies of each direction. Apprentices enter
another private e-list where they may discuss and share with the other
apprentices. The apprenticeship costs $99/yr (about £60), the $36
Oak Grove fee may be deducted from this if you start within 3 months
of joining the Oak Grove. You can start the apprenticeship after you
have completed 1 month as a member of the Oak Grove.
In addition to this, there is also the Twelve Journeys Programme, which
contains twelve journeys of initiation. These journeys are taken once
a month for twelve months. This programme costs $99.
Another programme, The University of Celtic Wisdom, includes; Ancestry,
Archaeology, Ancient wisdom, Ancient texts, Folklore & anthropology.
This programme takes 6 years and costs $144 /yr. The University of Celtic
Wisdom courses are all self-directed and you select which aspects of
each subject most interest you. This allows you to pursue your own interests
within each of the subjects and develop your own theories and understanding
of the subject. Although covering spiritual aspects, it is more focussed
on the Celtic history, mythology and way of life rather than on shamanism.
The SCS has a free public e-list community for Celtic shamans and a
free online healing grove where people can request and give healing.
The SCS also publishes a quarterly journal, Earthsongs. All Oak Grove
members and Apprentices receive a subscription to Earthsongs. For archived
issues of Earthsongs visit http://www.faeryshaman.org/arch/esarchdex.htm
