Ur

Heather Heather as Ally

Ur is a tribal plant. She speaks of warm lazy days, of chill winds and gathering in, always murmuring plans, humming with creativity, but only when in company with others of her tribe. She teaches us of the collective soul and how to be part of a wider whole, best sharing her wisdom if we get right down to her level, finding our place within the happily tangled roots of her community. Oghams of Mac ind Oic: growing of plants, the soil

Heather FlowersFound on heaths and moorlands – my own stave coming from the slopes of Cadair Irdis – Heather is associated in many ancient tales with the meetings of lovers. With its heady scent when in flower, and its habit of growing in low beds it is one that teaches me of the earth and of sharing and of community. The offering of ‘lucky’ heather to others is an act of openness and generosity, sharing with others the good fortune we may have experienced, giving of ourselves to the community and the tribe. (CC)
