Publishers' description
Instinct and Inspiration is a magical
blend of nature and mythology combined with contemporary verse that
gives an insight into the poetic soul through relationships and
experience. This book will take you on a journey through the heart of
the wildwood to meet with gods and goddesses, embrace the elements,
suffer heartbreak and lead onto a journey to define the self through
prosaic expression.
Review
There are three sections to this collection of poetry. The first –
‘Inspiration’ – consist of poems about nature and spirituality. Overtly pagan,
occasionally naive and rather sweet. Then we have a section of Haiku –
some of which are exquisite, some I found rather banal. Finally there is a section of ‘Instinct’ poems – which are more personal and introspective and not
overtly pagan most of the time.
It’s a short collection, at 65 pages. Most of
the poems are very short and easily digested but a few too many consist
entirely of rhyming couplets. The poet shows promise, and there is a delightful
enthusiasm to the writing which I appreciated.
