IFN announces closure. TDN responds.

The Druid Network has engaged significantly over its twenty one years, with government and other organisations, to bring Druidry as a religion into a cooperative and sharing environment with other faith groups. In 2010 it facilitated the change of charity law to include recognition of non-monotheist spirituality and became registered as a religious charity, and in 2016 TDN became a full member of the Inter Faith Network of the UK (IFN).

The trustees of The Druid Network firmly believe in maintaining communication and sharing across the faith spectrum, In a world where religion and politics are increasingly bringing peoples into conflict TDN seeks to promote tolerance and diversity, and the pursuit of peace through understanding and dialogue. It is therefore with deep regret that TDN notes the withdrawal of funding for IFN by the UK government.

Holding a position of peace through understanding and dialogue inevitably means sharing in the diversity of the UK’s religious movements, and engaging with those who do not think as we do.   Refusing to engage because we do not care for the voices being heard leads to polarisation, which is a major mindset change that can end in conflict. TDN holds a commitment to tolerance which stops only where intolerance is presented. We do not all think alike, and that is a strength not a weakness.
