The Druid Network supports Mission Lifeforce
At the Annual Gathering of The Druid Network in Redditch in April this year, it was acknowledged and celebrated that all seven trustees of the charity had become “Earth Protectors” with Mission Lifeforce. https://www.missionlifeforce.org
Mission Lifeforce is a small but growing movement dedicated to adding ecocide to the list of international crimes at the International Criminal Court in The Hague. Mission Lifeforce is entirely secular in their intention and is open to people of all spiritual and religious faiths and none.
Ecocide is defined as: “loss or damage to, or destruction of ecosystem(s) of a given territory(ies), such that peaceful enjoyment by the inhabitants has been or will be severely diminished.”
In discussions at the Annual Gathering it became clear that the trustees and members present of The Druid Network felt an alignment between the vision of Mission Lifeforce and the objectives of The Druid Network. Members spoke of their own involvement in activism and protecting the landscape, including members of The Warrior’s Call and other similar movements.
The act of becoming an Earth Protector in law (Trustee of the Earth) sits well with contemporary Druid practice and reverence for our living planet. Alongside and intrinsic to building relationship with deity and spirits of place, it is entirely appropriate to protect the lands in which we and they dwell. The element of protest inherent in being a conscientious protector reflects too the history of dissent and activism in the Druid tradition.
In these times of climate chaos, habitable land destruction and loss of biodiversity, amidst the failures of government accords and the inability of the public to take civil action against corporates and governments who actively harm our planet and all the life on it, actively defending our living planet and seeking internationally recognised sanctions becomes an act of Druidry.
The Druid Network invites all Druids and indeed all people of conscience to examine the potential within Mission Lifeforce and consider taking up the mantle of Earth Protector.

Notes: The Druid Network was founded on the 1st February 2003 by Emma Restall Orr and is a charity registered in England and Wales (1138265) with the objective “to Inform, Inspire and Facilitate Druidry as a religion”.
As an evolved and ever evolving ancient pagan religion, Druidry is based on the reverential, sacred and honourable relationship between the people and the land.
In its personal expression, modern Druidry is the spiritual interaction between an individual and the spirits of nature, including those of landscape and ancestry, together with the continuities of spiritual, literary and cultural heritage.
