Engaging with Confinement

As Druids we are deeply connected with and within our locality, be it the noise and bustle of the city or the serenity of a cottage in the countryside. Each of us interacts with the environment differently, but each takes pleasure and power from being in the right place in the moment.

What happens when, for whatever reason, we are pulled from our place of comfort and engagement and put into a whole new space unable, for varying periods of time and for very different reasons, to escape a confinement? Being disengaged from the normal can sometimes be exciting and an opportunity to be welcomed… but sometimes it can bring anxiety, loneliness and disconnection.

Both of the paragraphs above could equally be referring to being incarcerated in prison for a punishment, or to being hospitalised for an illness or injury.

In both cases it is important to find reconnection and in both cases there are roles for Druids and pagans. These are currently being very well catered for in the UK through the Pagan Federation, and The Druid Network is not active in this area at this time. Nevertheless, we are often asked questions on the subject and these pages offer both direct links to active support networks and some articles by TDN Members.
