Lockdown Beltane

The Druid Network looks forward to Beltane this year as always, but in the light of the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic recognises that celebrations will be very different this year. TDN also recognises the significant impact that the lockdown is having on the mental wellbeing of many Druids and pagans who are perforce denied free access to the open landscape.

Beltane celebrates the fecundity of the Earth, the start of summer and rituals of farming and fertility. It is important to remember that the land continues to grow, even thrives with our lessened impact, and that isolation was believed to be a practice of the ancient Druids. There will no doubt be those who dance up the Sun on May morning, and glad we are to know it. But please bear in mind the need for physical distancing, be safe and find the blessings in every moment.
